Matt on becoming Part of the

Tegan Australian Service Dog Program

Because our five year old son Matt has Autism, Our Labradoodle will be an "Autism" service dog.  She will provide Matt assistance in several ways: She will provide Matt with the opportunity to safely access different environments which will result in improved communication and social skills. Her presence will offer a calming influence and provide a sense of security to Matt and to us as his parents. Matt's abstract and concrete thinking will advance, his focus will improve, and the length of his attention span will increase. Emotional outbursts will occur less often. More importantly her role will afford Matt more independence and autonomy, helping him become a viable part of the community at large.  Medically, she will be taught to detect a seizure in Matt before it happens and act accordingly.

We are looking forward to giving Matt this opportunity.
